Fatima Bawany, MD is a dermatologist with a strong foundation in academic and clinical excellence. She grew up in Rochester, New York, where she completed both her undergraduate studies and medical degree, demonstrating early dedication to the field of medicine.
Dr. Bawany went on to complete her dermatology residency at the prestigious New York University Grossman School of Medicine—one of the top dermatology programs in the country. During her time at NYU, she served as chief resident, a testament to her leadership, clinical acumen, and commitment to medical education. She played an active role in mentoring trainees and shaping educational initiatives within the department.
Her clinical interests span the full spectrum of dermatologic care, including medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She is particularly passionate about treating conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, and hair loss, and has developed expertise in procedures ranging from skin cancer excisions to aesthetic treatments like Botox and fillers.
Dr. Bawany also has a strong research background, with published work in areas including atopic dermatitis, hair disorders, and autoimmune skin diseases. Her academic achievements include a dedicated research year funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where she contributed to advancing the understanding of complex skin conditions.
Now based in Connecticut, Dr. Bawany is thrilled to be joining the team at Connecticut Skin Institute. She brings with her a compassionate, patient-centered approach and looks forward to providing high-quality dermatologic care to individuals and families across the region.
