First Practice in CT Offering the New Cool Advantage Applicators (35 minutes a treatment). Same Results, Half the Time, Fewer Side Effects.
“Connecticut Skin Institute is among the most elite of CoolSculpting Centers, qualifying for the highest Diamond Level of our Crystal Rewards™ Program,” said Keith Sullivan, Chief Commercial Officer and President, North America, of ZELTIQ Aesthetics, Inc., the medical technology company responsible for developing the CoolSculpting procedure. “The practice’s success can be credited to Dr. Ibrahimi and his staff dedicating themselves to providing the best possible CoolSculpting experience for their patients.”
What sets us apart…
- At our office, our physician Dr. Omar Ibrahimi is directly involved with each treatment and assessment (most places across the State delegate to a non-physician).
- Dr Ibrahimi has trained and served as faculty with the dermatologists who invented CoolSculpting.
- We can do the same treatment faster than any other practice in CT because not only do we own two machines so you can dualsculpt, we are currently the only practice in CT with the new Cool Advantage applicators which have brought the treatment time from one hour to 35 minutes a treatment. This means we can do treatments in almost one quarter of the time as places with only one machine.
- We currently rank as the #1 CoolSculpting Provider in CT and we are one of the most experienced CoolSculpting providers in the Country. We also own the most CoolSculpting devices in CT.
- As with any service in our office, our focus is quality, not quantity. CoolSculpting is not for everyone, but a majority of appropriately selected patients on average see a reduction of fat in the treated area.*
- Up to 25% off with a package. Request your complimentary CoolSculpting consultation by calling 203-428-4440 or online.
So, what is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive body contouring procedure for the reducing the amount of unwanted fat tissue. You can literally freeze fat. It was invented by dermatologists at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical Schools flagship hospital) and relies on a medical process known as cryolipolysis, or cooling to kill fat cells. CoolSculpting uses highly controlled cooling to naturally reduce unwanted fat in areas such as the abdomen, flanks or arms/legs. Only fat cells are frozen and once crystallized, these fat cells die and are naturally reduced from your body. All without any surgery, downtime or restrictions.*
How does it work?
At our practice, CoolSculpting is a 35 minute procedure per applicator that is done in the office. Patients wear a handpiece attachment around their mid-section or other treated areas and can comfortably read a newspaper or book while they undergo treatment. Repeat treatments can increase the amount of fat removal and multiple areas can be safely treated in a single day. Because Dr. Omar Ibrahimi trained at the birthplace of CoolSculpting, we have extensive experience with the technology. We are currently the only office in CT with the new Cool Advantage applicators that allow us to do each treatment in 35 minutes versus 1 hour. Our office is also one of the few across the Country that has two CoolSculpting devices, enabling us to treat patients faster.*
What are the results?
In properly selected patients, CoolSculpting results in a noticeable, natural-looking reduction of fat bulges without the pain, risk, and recovery time of invasive procedures such as liposuction (SEE BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES BELOW). Because the body will naturally resorb the fat in the treated areas, results take 2-4 months to manifest. Results can be seen with a single treatment and for those that wish to perform additional treatments, the results can become even more impressive. In fact, many patients who prefer avoiding liposuction can obtain dramatic results with a series of treatments.*
What are your patients saying about it?
Watch a testimonial below from Dr. Ibrahimi’s patient who previously had CoolSculpting at a local medical spa and did NOT get any results. He tried it again with Dr. Ibrahimi due to his expertise and got great results.

Frequently asked questions about CoolSculpting
Q: What is CoolSculpting?
A: CoolSculpting is a new, non-invasive treatment to gently reduce fat in targeted areas of the body using advanced cooling technology to reduce fat cells, resulting in a noticeable, natural-looking fat reduction in the treated areas. It was developed by dermatologists at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical Schools Wellman Center for Photomedicine, where Dr. Ibrahimi completed his residency training and is currently affiliated research faculty.
Q: Does it work?
A: There is extensive data showing that CoolSculpting gradually reduces the thickness of the fat layer in specific areas of the body after a single procedure. Published clinical study results indicate an average fat layer reduction of 22%* after a single CoolSculpting treatment. Multiple treatments can lead to even more fat reduction and there is no limit to how many areas can be treated at a time. However, it is important to remember that it is not to be used as a weight loss agent or to treat obesity.
Q: Why choose the Connecticut Skin Institute for CoolSculpting?
A: There are other physician offices and even Medical Spas where CoolSculpting is offered. However, what sets us apart from these locations is the extensive training credentials that our physician, Dr. Omar Ibrahimi has. He is the only physician in CT to offer CoolSculpting who has directly trained with the inventors of the device. Additionally, at our office, Dr. Ibrahimi does all the assessment and treatments himself and does not delegate them to a non-physician. The most important aspect behind successful results is having a physician who knows how to properly select candidates for CoolSculpting.
We are currently the only practice in CT and one of the first in the Country to have the new Cool Advantage applicators which allow us to do treatments in almost half the time (only 35 minutes) as other practice. The new applicators are faster, more comfortable and have fewer side effects. We are also one of the offices across the country that has two CoolSculpting devices that enable us to treat you faster. At our office, we focus on quality, not quantity. Seeing an office or a medical spa that is focused solely on generating revenue and quantity of treatments will inevitably lead to many patients being treated that are not ideal candidates. We have turned away many patients that just were not ideal candidates for CoolSculpting. If you live in Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Stamford, Westport, Farifield, Weston, Wilton or in Fairfield or Westchester counties, consider seeing our national expert Dr. Omar Ibrahimi at the Connecticut Skin Institute.
Q: What is DualSculpting?
A: DualSculpting is when a patient is being treated by two devices at one time. This allows for a faster and more efficient treatment and minimizes the amount of time the patient spends in the office. Our office is one of the few across the country that has two CoolSculpting machines and enables us to treat patients in half the time normally needed.
Q: What is the science behind CoolSculpting?
A: The science behind the CoolSculpting procedure is called Cryolipolysis, which was developed by world-renowned dermatologists at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Their groundbreaking research showed that fat cells are more vulnerable to the effects of cold than other surrounding tissue and structures and that fat cells exposed to precisely controlled cooling can be safely reduced without harming the skin. This discovery led to the development of the CoolSculpting procedure.
Q: How does CoolSculpting work?
A: During the procedure, a non-invasive applicator is placed on the patient, and the tissue being treated is brought into contact with cooling panels on the applicator. The CoolSculpting system delivers precisely controlled cooling to target and reduce fat cells in specific body areas, such as the abdomen, love handles and the back. The fat is cooled over a period up to 1 hour per application cycle while the patient is sitting comfortably in the office.
Q: Are there any side effects and will patients experience frost bite from the cooling?
A: The CoolSculpting procedure is extremely safe, non-invasive and has a much lower incidence of side effects than liposuction or other invasive procedures. Most commonly, there may be some temporary numbness, redness or minor bruising in the treatment area. The procedure is designed to deliver precise and controlled cooling to the fat cells below the skin layer without harming the skin.
Q: Are there any clinical studies to support its safety and efficacy?
A: Clinical studies show that, for properly selected patients, the CoolSculpting procedure is a safe and effective way to reduce the fat layer, without the pain, risk, and recovery time of invasive procedures. The result is a noticeable, natural-looking fat reduction in the treated areas 2 to 4 months after a single CoolSculpting procedure. Better results can be obtained with a second procedure performed 2 months after the first. There are no significant changes to lipid blood levels or liver function during the post-procedure period.
Q: What is the cost of the procedure? How many treatments are needed?
A: The cost varies depending on the areas to be treated and one to three areas can typically be treated in one visit. A noticeable, measurable fat reduction is typically seen two to four months after a single CoolSculpting procedure. At that point, patients can be evaluated to see if they are good candidates for second treatments to achieve further results.
Q: How long before you see the results?
A: A noticeable, measurable fat reduction is typically seen two to four months after a single CoolSculpting procedure.
Q: What types of patients will benefit from the procedure?
A: Ideal patients are relatively fit, but have some modest-size fat bulges that are not easily reduced by diet or exercise. The CoolSculpting procedure is for spot fat reduction. It is not a way to lose weight, or to treat obesity.
Q: Is CoolSculpting FDA approved?
A:The CoolSculpting device is cleared by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of the flanks (love handles) and abdomen.
Q: Does it hurt? What does it feel like?
A: Our patients find the procedure to be gentle and easy to tolerate. Anesthesia and pain medication are not needed so patients can read a book, listen to music, work on their laptop or just relax during the procedure. When the applicator is placed on the skin, patients feel a pulling from the vacuum pressure that brings the skin into contact with the cooling panels. When the procedure begins, patients feel a cooling sensation that goes away after a few minutes as the cooling produces an anesthetic effect. After the procedure, there’s no downtime and patients can resume their normal activities the same day, including work and exercise.
