Joanna Dong, MD, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained reconstructive, cosmetic, and laser surgeon. She is a Volunteer Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and previously served as Clinical Instructor at Marion University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indiana.
Dr. Dong grew up in Maryland then moved to New York to attend Cornell University for her undergraduate studies, graduating summa cum laude. She earned her medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where she performed novel research in skin cancer and cosmetic procedures, obtaining clinical and research honors as a top graduate in her class. She completed her dermatology residency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and subsequently trained with the world-renowned Dr. C. William Hanke at the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of Indiana for fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic dermatology.
Dr. Dong has worked as an investigator in numerous clinical trials involving skin cancer, photodynamic therapy for precancerous growths, neurotoxin for wrinkles, and energy-based devices for skin rejuvenation. She enjoys providing the most cutting-edge novel therapies to her patients. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters on skin cancer and cosmetic dermatology, and has given oral presentations at national conferences. For her academic endeavors, she has won several prestigious grants and awards, including the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research grant.
Dr. Dong’s special interests are in skin screenings for rashes and lesions, dermatologic surgery for benign and malignant growths, cosmetic dermatology including neurotoxin and filler injection, regenerative dermatology such as PRP, PRF, and fat transfer, and laser treatments for scars and facial rejuvenation. She looks forward to serving the dermatologic needs of patients in the broader Fairfield County region of Connecticut and surrounding Westchester County.
