Kybella: double chin fat reduction
We are honored to be the first provider in CT to offer Kybella which is an FDA-Approved injectable which allows for the reduction of submental fat (double chin). The procedure is entirely non-invasive, with little to no recovery time, no surgery and minimal risks. Our dermatologist, Dr. Omar Ibrahimi, has been chosen as a key opinion leader and trainer to instruct other dermatologists and plastic surgeons in the state on the use of FDA-Cleared Kybella.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Kybella?
Kybella is identical to deoxycholic acid which is produced in your body. Deoxycholic produced in the body helps the body absorb fats.
How does Kybella work?
Kybella is a cytolytic drug, which when injected into fat tissue, will physically destroy fat cells.
Am I a good candidate?
To know if you are a good candidate, you must have some pinchable fat in your submental area (double chin) area. Prior to any treatments, Dr. Omar Ibrahimi carries out a detailed analysis that includes the identification of your anatomical landmarks, a detailed analysis of your double chin fat and a medical review to make sure you are an appropriate candidate and also understand the expected course following treatment.
How much does it cost?
The cost of the procedure depends on how much Kybella product will be used and can vary based on each individual. We customize a treatment plan based on your specific needs during the consultation.
How many treatments does it take?
We expect most patients to obtain excellent results by 3-6 treatment sessions. Patients who are more advanced may require additional treatments
How long does it take to inject Kybella?
The procedure is an in-office set of injections. The typical procedure takes less than 15 minutes.
Is Kybella safe?
In the hands of a well-trained dermatologist that is trained in the anatomy of the area, yes. According to a press release from the FDA, the safety and effectiveness of Kybella for treatment of submental fat were established in two clinical trials which enrolled 1,022 adult participants with moderate or severe submental fat. Participants were randomly assigned to receive Kybella or a placebo for up to six treatments. The results showed that reductions in submental fat were observed more frequently in participants who received Kybella versus placebo.
What are the most common side effects of Kybella?
The most common side effects of Kybella include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness in the treatment area.
Why should I see Dr. Omar Ibrahimi for my Kybella treatment?
Our physician, Dr. Omar Ibrahimi is one of a few hundred dermatologists and plastic surgeons that were hand selected by Kythera, the company which manufactures Kybella. At the present moment, he is the only physician in Connecticut and one of a few in the entire Northeast that has been approved by the company to perform Kybella injections.
